Pattaya Bucket List

Updated on August 4, 2011

The Pattaya Bucket List

A bucket list is a list of things that you need to do before you 'kick the bucket'. A list of experiences that you should have before you die. Every country, every city, every village will have something. The world over that is a mighty list of things you should not miss.

Pattaya in Thailand is no different to the others except it is the wildest, sexiest and most exciting city in the world. Every night is party night in Pattaya. Every day there is something different to do, somewhere new to eat.

Pattaya can be quiet or loud. Pattaya is fun. Pattaya is happy. Pattaya is the laxative cure for constipated morals. Don't condemn it, take it as it comes. Pattaya is safe for tourists and can be an ideal family holiday location.

If time is short. Take a look at the bucket list below. It is in no special order. Ten things you should do in the time you are in Pattaya. Some you can do together in one day. All you could do in a week. Do them all and you will be changed person and probably a better more rounded person for all that. Enjoy. Be happy.

Sit On The Beach

Sitting on the beach may not seem important but it can be both exciting and relaxing. Hire yourself a deck chair for the day. Read a book and people watch. You will be visited by numerous people during the day. You can bargain and purchase souvenirs. Swim. You can have a foot massage, a manicure, a pedicure. Drink beer or fresh green coconut juice. Eat freshly caught squid and prawns which will be cooked in front of you. Purchase today's newspaper from home (sometimes before it hits Western news stands). A day on the beach will seem much more appealing after day 3.

Visit A Beer Bar

Beer Bars are fun. They are numerous in Pattaya. Those on Soi Diana, Soi 7 and Soi 8 are probably the best. Better to go around 10 in the evening when things start to buzz.

My personal favourites are on Soi 7 on a Friday night and on Soi Diana any night of the week. Those on 2nd Road just across from Soi Honey are a lot of fun too.

Visit A Go Go Bar

Go Go Bars are a must. Male or female, go and take a look. There are many to choose from. Some are a lot more interesting than others. What all Go Go Bars share is that they are eaters of time. It is something to do with the lights...and the beer....and the girls. Before you know it you have lost an hour or three.

Stroll Down Walking Street

Walking Street is a MUST. It is as much to watch other tourists as all the other amazing things and drink in the atmosphere. It is a crazy place full of characters. I have my favourite bars here for just sitting and people watching and for listening to music. For music right now you really cannot beat the Blue Sky Bar. Go early, get a good seat and sit all night.

Walking Street only really comes alive after 10.00 in the evening.

Saunter Along The Coconut Bar

The Coconut Bar is a great place to take a stroll in the evening just after dark. Relax, chat, meet people or just watch.

Go To The Cinema

It may seem odd to suggest going to the cinema when on holiday in Pattaya but it could be a good way to while away the early evening or a hot day. The latest movies will be on show. What is really special about Pattaya cinemas is that they can offer luxury which is not on offer in the West. Pattaya cinemas can be special and are a great place to take a new date.

Have A Massage

What would Pattaya be without a massage. Have one every day. Enjoy the luxury and the pampering while you can. There are hundreds to choose from. Those in hotels and close to the beach and Walking Street are expensive. Move inland up and around Soi Honey and Soi Bukhao.

There is a choice, Soapy Massage, Thai Masage, Oil Massage, Hot Stone, Foot and more.

Eat A Thai Buffet

There are literally hundreds of places to eat in Pattaya. You could eat from a different nationality restaurant every night for a month and still have some to try. Eating food from the street is good and it is safe. A Thai cooked burger is always better than those from the big chains.

I would suggest eating at a Thai Buffet to be something you should not miss. One price, and cheap, for all you can eat. Food cooked by you at your table. It is a great and tasty deal. It is best to go with someone who knows where to go as most buffets are more mid town Go with a Bar Girl. Treat her. She will show you what to do and care for you. You could have a new friend for life.

Walk Slowly Down Soi 6

Soi is simply the Thai word for road. There are lots of Soi's in Pattaya. I have already mentioned some of them. Soi 6 is just a little bit different to the rest. Definitely somewhere you want to see. Go around 21.00 hrs. Stop for a drink or two. Have a meal. Have fun. Don't be bashful.

Watch A Ladyboy Show

If you have not read The World of the Kathoey and Ladyboy then I suggest you do. There are a number of Ladyboy Shows in Pattaya. Your hotel or any of the numerous travel agents can book you in. Well worth it, they are spectacular and well done.

There are impromptu shows as well that are not going to cost you more than the price of a drink or two. Go to the Pook Bar on Soi Bukhao. Loosen up, smile. Have fun.

And Finally

Believe me there are hundreds of things to do and see. Temples, Markets, Golf, Shooting, Riding, Trekking, Bird Watching, Trips to the islands, Discos, Shopping.
