Yantra Mats, also known as Shakti Mats are a piece of cloth to which are attached numerous plastic bobbles of spikes. This is the modern 'Bed of Nails' but far from being an instrument of torture the Yantra Mat is an igenious device which can help you relax. In theory the spikes here are said to cause the body to release endorphins and oxytocin and so cause the body to heal naturally and without pain. Like so many alternative 'cures', what works for one will not necessarily work for all. There are regular Yantra Mat users however who speak very highly of the successes they have had.
The Yantra or Shakti Mat works by accupressure. This acts rather like a mini-massage on specific areas of the body, pressing down upon various pressure points. This can relieve tension and stress, increase energy and aid sleep. Use of the mat is said to improve circulation, help with neck and back problems, respiration and more.
Flexible Yantra mats can be used in a variety of ways. The most obvious is to lie upon them and allow the points to work on your naked back. Equally though you could lay face down, sit on one or even use it as a pillow.

You do not say how much you can expect to pay for one. I might consider for the right price. May be cheaper then going to the chiropractor.

Thanks Eiddwen. They look a bit painful but in actual fact are not. Many people drop off to sleep when they lie upon them.
Hmmm... I think I'd rather stick to having a traditional Thai massage instead. The masseuse I usually go to can cause some serious pain and believe put my endorphins on overdrive =D
